Students plan vigil to honor classmate killed in crash

Update: Tuesday morning, Greenfield-Central students began passing the word to meet in front of the high school at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday to take a moment to honor classmate Sarah Overby and walk in solidarity into school together. Students took to social media Tuesday to make plans “as a cougar family to show our support to her loved ones,” posts read.

GREENFIELD – A Greenfield teen died and three others were injured in an accident early Tuesday morning near the Hancock-Madison county line.
Sarah Overby, 17, of Greenfield, was a back-seat passenger in a car that crashed around 1 a.m. Tuesday after missing a curve in State Road 9 near the intersection of County Road 1000N.
The car, which was driven by Jonathan Castillo, 20, Greenfield, left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Overby was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff’s deputies.
Castillo and other two passengers — Isreal Tutrow, 18, of Greenfield, and Desmond Hill, 21, Anderson — were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
