Duane R. Wilson, 86, of New Palestine, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Hancock Regional Hospital.  He was born on April 8, 1931, in Rush County as the son of Virgil F. and Florence (Carney) Wilson.

He graduated from New Salem High School in 1949.  He served in the Army during the Korean War.  Duane married Janet M. (Geise) on September 18, 1955, in Homer, In.

He retired with Major Tool & Machine after working there for many years.  Mr. Wilson was a member of New Palestine United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and trustee.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Rushville and the Scottish Rite.  Duane loved spending time with his family, fishing, golfing and playing euchre.

Duane is survived by his wife, Janet Wilson of New Palestine; children, Keith (Dawn) Wilson of Phoenix, AZ, Scott (Julie) Wilson of Orlando, FL and Ann (Greg) Estes of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Craig (Jamie) Wilson, Eric Wilson, Alex Wilson, Nicholas (Nikki) Wilson, Haley Wilson, Taylor (Jordan) Harvey, and Lauren and Peyton Estes; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Amelia, Masen and Collin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith Wilson; and grandson, Christopher Wilson.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017,  at New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 S. 500 W., New Palestine, IN 46163 viewing one hour prior to the service.  Pastor Mark Wesler will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington.
