John Edward Paul Schwamberger

John Edward Paul Schwamberger, 66, a resident of Greenfield and former resident of Brandenburg, Ky., passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born November 13, 1950, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Jerome H. and Betty J. (Humphries) Schwamberger.

John graduated from Fillmore High School, Cloverdale, Ind., and was a proud graduate of Purdue University, where he attained his bachelor degree in computer technology. He retired from the Army after 43 years of service and was still employed with Army as an Deputy Command Inspector General out of Ft. Knox.

John was a former member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church of Indianapolis, member of the Knights of Columbus of Indianapolis, Civil Air Patrol, he was a car enthusiast who loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and was an avid bowler that bowled a 300.

He is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Ott) Schwamberger of Greenfield whom he married October 20, 1973; sons, Michael (Jill) Schwamberger of Greenfield, Douglas (Tara) Schwamberger of Martinsville; sisters, Mary Teipen of Cloverdale, Marty (Jay) Teipen of Cloverdale; grandsons, Kyler and Colten both of Greenfield.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Huckaby.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday April 20, 2017, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at the funeral home concluding with military honors.
