Floyd Lee Casey

Floyd Lee Casey, 87, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at his residence. He was born on January 31, 1930, in Hayden, Ind., as the son of Roscoe and Malvina (Washer) Casey.

He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1949. Mr. Casey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Floyd married Janet (Garrard) on May 20, 1967, in Greenfield.

He worked at Casey Construction & Excavating Co., where he was a partner for 30 years before retiring in 1983. Mr. Casey was a 50-year Mason at Centre Lodge No. 23 and a member of Grand Lodge F&AM of Indiana. He enjoyed gardening, restoring classic cars and tinkering in his garage. Floyd was known to be able to fix almost anything. He also loved to feed and watch the birds and squirrels. He especially enjoyed his cats, Taz and Alice.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Janet M. Casey of Greenfield; sons, Daniel (Candance) Doolin of New Palestine and Charles Doolin of Indianapolis; daughters, Sandra Lee (Rick) Buening of Valonia and Marsha (David) Meckel of Greenfield; sister, Dorothy (Jack) Miller of Arcadia, Fla.; a long line of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chester, Harold and James Casey; and sisters, Margaret Blake and Carolyn Harms.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 3 p.m. Pastor Brent Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Greenfield.
