Restaurant Inspections – April 11

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Feb. 24

Aramak at Covance

Location: 2001 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — chicken, chicken wings not hot enough, corrected; C — chicken salad, lunch meats not cold enough, corrected.

Feb. 27

Marsh Supermarket

Location: 1240 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — sink in deli by chicken prep is not to temperature, to be corrected by June 1; NC — need thermometer for hot hold area/unit, to be corrected by June 1; NC — need to use sanitizing test strips to verify sanitizing solution is at correct concentration, to be corrected by March 1.

That Fun Place

Location: 1618 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — need to clean cooler handles of pizza prep table to remove debris, to be corrected by June 1; NC — faucet leaking at three-compartment sink, to be corrected by June 1.

Cracker Barrel

Location: 2265 Barrett Dr., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — cup being used as ice scoop, corrected; C — after cracking eggs or touching raw meat/fish, take off gloves before touching anything else, corrected.

Feb. 28

Wasabi Japanese Steak House

Location: 1505 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — need to wash hands, change gloves when switching between raw meats and touching handles of cooking equipment/utensils between tasks, do not refuse gloves, need more training of employees; C/R — soiled knives stored with clean knives stored in wood block, do not use wood block to store knives, food contact surfaces need to be washed, rinsed and sanitized, including equipment used by sushi chef and hibachi grill chef, ledge in ice machine and interior wall of ice machine needs to be cleaned and sanitized, to be corrected by March 15; NC/R — exhaust hood has excessive build-up of drips/grease, wipe down between professional cleanings, to be corrected by May 1; NC/R — clean doors and handles of refrigeration unit and all equipment, to be corrected by May 1; NC — repair hole in ceiling tile in kitchen, to be corrected by May 1; NC — need paper towels at all hand sinks, repair/replace holder, to be corrected by May 1; NC — exterior screen door needs to be tight fitting to prevent pest access, to be corrected by May 1; NC — ice scoop must be stored in a clean, protected manner, to be corrected by Feb. 28.
