Rodney D. Sanford, 62, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was born on July 10, 1954, as the son of Charlie and Martha (Ford) Sanford.

He graduated from New Palestine High School in 1972 and Indiana Central College in 1976. His careers included farming, construction and lumber sales. He will be remembered for his faith in Jesus, love of family and friends, intelligence, quick wit, fantastic sense of humor, strong work ethic and courage in living with ALS.

Rod leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Cyndy (Byerly) Sanford; children, Reggie (Jenny) Johnson, Joe (Lauren) Sanford, Katie (Charlie) Ketchen; father, Charlie Sanford; brother, Steve Sanford; six grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Sanford; and brother, Brian Sanford.

Family and Friends can gather from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, at the mortuary. Pastor Danny Curry will be officiating.
