Library fund should be for more than buildings

To the editor:

I think it would be tragic to spend the donated library money only on buildings. The library has so few resources for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that I was stunned by what I read in the paper about the direction of the spending (“Unexpected Windfall,” March 29, A1).

I hope library board member Beverly Gard would realize the important of science for women especially. I believe her background is chemistry, but leaving a legacy of young minds, young doctors and women in chemistry would live on for many generations.
