Elizabeth Lucille (Stoner) Barnhart, 92, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on April 8, 1924, in Oaklandon, Ind., as the daughter of Hosea D. and Faye L. (Moore) Stoner.

After graduating from Carthage High School, Elizabeth married Robert Jean Barnhart on September 29, 1946.

She worked as a Control Buyer for Sears Roebuck in Indianapolis and Greenfield for 35 years. She also enjoyed food preservation and gardening.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Robert) Souchon of Greenwood, and Jayne (John) Vandenbemden of Union, Ky.; brother, William (Martha) Stoner of Greenfield; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stoner of Franklin, Ind.; five grandchildren, Rob Souchon, Sam Souchon, Chief Petty Officer David Z. Souchon, Major John Vandenbemden and Jenifer Vandenbemden Evans; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Barnhart; and five brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 5, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
