Robert “Bob” T. Mench, 77, Wilkinson, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Ellison House in Greenfield. He was born July 23, 1939, in Indianapolis, the son of Edward and Lois (Jackson) Mench.

Bob graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1957 and lived in Hancock County all of his life. He attended Purdue University, completed a Bachelors Degree in Business from Southern Illinois University and was a veteran of the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Willow Branch United Methodist Church. Bob had a lifetime passion for Polled Hereford cattle and was supportive of 4-H and FFA throughout the State of Indiana helping numerous young people by sharing his passion and knowledge of the livestock industry. He also owned Robert T. Mench Insurance Agency and Real Estate office in Shirley for 20 years. Bob was an avid supporter of Eastern Hancock sports. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he never missed a livestock show or ballgame they were in. He loved talking to friends on the phone for hours and never met a person he could not offer some kind of advice.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Mench of Wilkinson; sons, Thomas David (Jessica) Mench of Shirley and Andrew John (Heidi) Mench of Canton, Ill.; grandchildren, Morgan Anne and Megan Elizabeth Mench, Ayden Thomas and Marlee Jo Mench; several very close friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an aunt, Merremae Leavelle.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 2, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, with Pastor David Huff officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery.
