The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Feb. 14

Family Dollar

Location: 1250 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Feb. 15

Fortville Broadway Diner

Location: 426 E. Broadway St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – raw chicken must be covered, cannot stack pans onto food product, corrected; NC – personal items may not be stored on cutting board in prep cooler, corrected; NC – ice scoop must be stored in clean, protected manner, corrected; NC – need thin-tipped food thermometer for thin meats, tenders, etc., to be corrected by May 1; NC/R – clean under equipment, prep and tall refrigeration units, freezers, ice cream chest and utensils storage unit by sandwich prep cooler, to be corrected by May 1.

Los Maguelles Mexican Restaurant

Location: 222 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – need to have sanitizing test strips available and used, make sure tablets are completely dissolved, to be corrected by Feb. 25; NC/R – continue to repair flooring so smooth, no holes or low places, to be corrected by May 1.
