Janice Marie (Brown) Burkett, 77, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Pleasant View Lodge in McCordsville. She was born on July 24, 1939 in Indianapolis as the daughter of Lester and Elizabeth (Offenbacker) Brown. She graduated from Greenfield High school in 1958 and obtained her certificate in legal secretary from Franklin College. Janice married Asa Burkett on August 28, 1960 in Greenfield.

She owned Catering on Que in Greenfield for 18 years. She was also an aerobics instructor and baby sit for many children. Janice was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church. She loved singing and was a part of the community choir and church choir. Janice enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, baking and was an avid reader.

Janice is survived by her husband, Asa Burkett; children, Eric (Yvonne) Burkett, Medina Burkett, Rodney Burkett and Samantha (Christian) Miller; brother, Donald Brown; sister, Ramona Hancock; six grandchildren, Brandon Scott, Travis Burkett, Tiera Crossman, Paige Rutledge, Masan Miller and Aydan Miller; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Elizabeth Brown; and granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Miller.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 25, 2017, from Noon to 2 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be immediately following the visitation. Pastor Larry Fannin will be officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
