Atta M. ‘Marie’ Adams

Atta M. “Marie” Adams, 94, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on March 18, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 16, 1922, as the daughter of Connell and Lillian Morris.

She was raised in Ohio with her sister, Mary, and brother, George. Marie married Charles J. Adams on July 1, 1944, in Indianapolis. Marie and Charles raised their three sons in Indianapolis.

She spent 20 years working for Indiana National Bank as an administrative assistant. Marie loved to travel and the warm sunshine. She especially loved Ireland and the Irish way of life. Marie was a longtime volunteer at Hancock Regional Hospital in the gift shop, and was actively involved with the Mental Health America of Hancock County. She also loved to knit and was a part of the local Knit Wits group.

In retirement, Marie spent 13 years living in North Fort Myers Beach, Fla., where she and Charles could be close to the beach. She spent her last 19 years in Greenfield, close to family and friends. To Marie, family was the most important thing, and she loved them all “a bushel and a peck and hug around the neck.”

Marie is survived by her two sons, Charles A. (Donna) Adams of Loganville, Ga., and Robert J. (Tanya) Adams of Germantown, Tenn; former daughter-in-law, Margie Fourgeron; seven grandchildren, Angela (Scott) Rightor and Todd Adams both of Indianapolis, Tina (Jeff) Daffron and Tracy (Jobie) Whitaker both of Greenfield, Melissa (Matt) Bueninck of Katy, Tx., Hillary (Brian) Welton of Germantown, Tenn., and Leah Adams of Memphis, Tenn.; nine great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Crystal Rightor, Tori and Jayden Daffron, Jaret and Tylar Whitaker, Eleanor and Oliver Bueninck and Hayes Welton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Adams; her beloved, Raymond Wheeler; son, George S. Adams; brother, George Morris; sister, Mary Buquo; and parents, Connell and Lillian Morris.

A celebration of life service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 20, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.
