Phillip E. Jacoby, 55, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his residence. He was born on May 12, 1961, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Eugene and Marlys (Carlson) Jacoby Kleifgen.

Phillip attended Berkley School of Music in Boston then later received his B.A. in History from IUPUI in Indianapolis. Phillips life revolved around his passion for music. He was very talented both vocally and instrumentally and professionally played the piano; bass; guitar; string bass; and saxophone. He toured the U.S. for many years sharing his love of music. He served as the worship and music leader at Northside Baptist, Castleton United Methodist Church, Cross and Crown Lutheran Church and Cross of Grace Lutheran Church. He spent many years as sound and recording engineer for the state high school jazz band competition and the United Methodist Church annual conference. He also worked for Photon Automation until August 2015.

Surviving Phillip is his wife, Dr. Julie Flora Jacoby; mother, Marlys (Norm Kleifgen) Jacoby Kleifgen; son, Spencer Jacoby of Noblesville; daughters, Courtney (Nicholas Wiegand) Preste of Zionsville; Megan (Eric Land) Jacoby of San Francisco, Cali.; brother, Michael (Heidi) Jacoby of Winfield, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Preceding Phillip in death is his father, Eugene Jacoby.

A memorial visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 3519 S. 600 W. New Palestine, IN 46140, with Pastor Mark Havel officiating.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Phillip may sent directly to the Cross of Grace Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 3519 S. 600 W., New Palestine, IN 46163. Envelopes will also be available at the church.
