2016-17 All-Hancock County Girls Basketball

First Team

Madison Wise, Greenfield-Central

Wise was named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s Supreme 15 All-State Team and All-Hoosier Heritage Conference. The 6-foot-1 senior wing became only the fifth player in state history to surpass 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career. The Iowa State recruit is the county’s all-time leading scorer with 2,109 points.

Stats: 23.5 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.9 spg, 2.6 bpg, 53 percent FG, 69 percent FT

Raegan McMurray, New Palestine

McMurray once again led the Dragons in scoring and was second-best in the county at 18.1 points per game. The 5-foot-9 senior forward was named All-Hoosier Heritage Conference and earned Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-State honorable mention. She finished with 1,081 career points and is committed to Illinois Wesleyan University.

Katie Helgason, Greenfield-Central

Helgason, a Ball State recruit, was out the first 12 games this season as she recovered from an ACL tear, but she made up for lost time in the Cougars’ final 16 contests to earn All-Hoosier Heritage Conference honors. The 5-foot-5 senior guard was also voted to the IBCA Senior Large School All-State Team.

Stats: 9.3 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 2.1 apg, 0.9 spg, 46 percent FG, 59 percent FT, 45 percent 3pt

Emiley Carlton, Eastern Hancock

Carlton, a Millikin University recruit, led the Royals in scoring (429 points), rebounding (187) and steals (58) this season en route to the program’s first sectional title since 2001. The 5-foot-10 senior forward finished with 1,078 points in her career and was named IBCA Senior All-State honorable mention.

Stats: 16.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.2 apg, 2.2 spg, 49 percent FG, 67 percent FT

Haley Harrison, New Palestine

Harrison jumped from 2.8 points per game as a freshman to 8.2 in a prominent role for the Hancock County champion Dragons, which finished 17-7 this season. The 5-foot-6 guard buried 36 3-pointers and helped her team finished second in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. She was named All-HHC.
