Barbara Ann (Carter) Harding, 85, of Greenfield, formally of New Castle, passed away March 3, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on July 31, 1931, in New Castle, as the daughter of William Howard and Helen Marie (Stonerock) Carter.

She graduated from Mooreland High School in Mooreland, in 1947, and later married Stanley Harding, Jr. in New Castle.

She owned and managed Bamboo Inn in New Castle for 28 years before retiring. Mrs. Harding was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the Elks Club of New Castle. She loved gardening, sharing her flowers and taking care of her animals.

She is survived by her sister, Beatrice (Michael) Ward of New Castle; special friends, Jim Keaton of Greenfield and Marilyn McKinney of New Castle; three nieces, Connie Carter, Vickie Carter, and Joni Miller; and one nephew, Eric Longworth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Carter; husband, Stanley Harding, Jr.; daughter, Debra Kay Harding; infant granddaughter, Chelsea Ann Harding; and brother, Billy Carter.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m. at the mortuary. Father Aaron Jenkins will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
