Audrey Jean (Mahuron) Romack, 94, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born on July 18, 1922, in Washington County, Ind., as the daughter of Lawrence R. and Hazel (Martin) Mahuron.

She graduated from Pekin High School in 1940. Mrs. Romack received her bachelors from Central Normal College in Danville, Ind., and attended Butler University. Audrey married William “Bill” W. Romack on March 27, 1948, in Franklin, Ind.

She was an elementary school teacher for a total of 43 years, where she taught for 38 years at Shelby Eastern School. After retirement in 1988 she volunteered for another 16 ½ years at the school. Audrey was a member of the East Side Church of Christ in Indianapolis.

Audrey is survived by her sister, Marilyn Perigo of Evansville, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Hazel Mahuron; husband, Bill Romack; daughter, Sue Ellen and twin daughters, Leisa Gay and Teresa Kay; brother, Bruce Mahuron; and sister, Rosalie Hobson.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 1 p.m. Minister Josh Coles and Ronald Johnson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
