HENRY COUNTY — About $200,000 worth of marijuana was found during a traffic stop on Interstate 70 Wednesday afternoon, landing the driver with a felony drug dealing charge, police said.
Investigators with the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement, or PACE, team — a task force consisting of officers from several Central Indiana police departments, including the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, who patrol Interstate 70 looking for drug traffickers — pulled over a car along eastbound I-70 in Henry County around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car and searched the vehicle, according to a press release.
Inside, police found nearly 60 pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags, officials said. They also found other marijuana products, including THC wax, hash paste and paraphernalia, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, Andrew Larkin, 25, of Veneta, Oregon, also had a loaded handgun with him the car, police said.
He was arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail. He is being held there on a preliminary charge of dealing marijuana as a Level 5 felony, according to a press release.
