Motown the Musical seeks poster design

INDIANAPOLIS — Artists are invited to create a poster design for “Motown The Musical” coming to the Murat Theatre at the Old National Center from March 28 to April 2. The winning poster designs will be printed and featured in the lobby during the show. The winning artists receive two tickets to opening night and the grand prize winner receives $250. Hand-drawn, digitally designed or painted poster submissions must include the text “Motown The Musical, Murat Theatre at Old National Centre and March 28-April 2, 2017.” Artists should submit a JPEG image of the poster to [email protected] by Feb. 21.

Park & Rec offers online art instruction

GREENFIELD – A basic 3-D shape drawing class is available online through the Greenfield Parks & Recreation Department. Access to the class is open from 8 a.m. Feb. 16 to 8:30 a.m. Feb. 17. Participants will draw a wishing well. Registration for the class is $5 for Greenfield residents and $7 for non-residents. Visit greenfieldin.org and click on Parks and Rec Online Registration.

Teen project features optical illusion art

GREENFIELD – Tweens and teens ages 9 to 19 are invited to create optical illusion art with the Bookface project at 4 p.m. Monday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. The project involves lining up your face or another body part alongside a matching book cover and snapping a photo creating the illusion that the cover photo extends beyond the edges of the book. Storytelling Guild meets monthly

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County “As I Recall” Storytelling Guild meets at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. Attendees will develop techniques to engage listeners. Sponsored by a grant from Storytelling Arts of Indiana, this event is free and all are welcome. Register at hcplibrary.org.

Quilt guild teaches edge finishes

GREENFIELD – Common Threads quilting guild meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at Mount Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N. County Road 600W. Guest speaker for Feb. 15 will be Mary Strinka talking about how to edge finish a quilt project.
