GREENFIELD – Warm up with the Hancock County Public Library’s Winter Reading Club this month and win prizes. Register as a family at hcplibrary.org and log your family’s reading time. Prizes are awarded for each hour a family reads together. Books must be read aloud by family members, so audio books do not count toward reading time. Prizes will be awarded March 8. This program is free.

GREENFIELD – Bright Star Touring Theatre brings its production of “Freedom Songs” to the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, at 7 p.m. Monday. This professional touring company out of Asheville, North Carolina, presents a musical approach to learning about chapters of black history, including the Underground Railroad, the Civil Rights Movement and the Beale Street Blues. This event is free, but pre-registration at hcplibrary.org is recommended.

FORTVILLE – Ten West Center for the Arts, 10 W. Church St., presents a night of comedy and music at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 3. Dave Dugan, a comedian who has appeared on Comedy Central, the Arsenio Hall Show and the Bob and Tom Show, will headline. In addition to Dugan’s stand-up comedy, Patchwork, the musical duo of Rick and Holly Garrett, will also perform. Tickets can be purchased online for $15 plus a service fee at tenwestcenter.org.

INDIANAPOLIS – IndyFringe celebrates the life of Alexander Calder, the artist most known for the invention of the mobile in “Calder, The Musical.” This original musical brings Calder’s art to life and captures his essence through a theatrical experience of drama, music, dance and visual art. “The Little Mermaid” swims to town

INDIANAPOLIS – Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” swims into the Old National Centre, 502 N. New Jersey St., Feb. 7 through 12. In the kingdom under the sea, mermaid Ariel and her crabby sidekick Sebastian, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula to be able to walk on land like the people do. Tickets start at $28. Show of Chinese culture returns to Clowes Hall

INDIANAPOLIS – Shen Yun, a classical Chinese music company, performs at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 and 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at Clowes Memorial Hall, 4602 Sunset Ave. The performance combines ancient Chinese culture and costumes with technological innovations to tell stories through music and dance.
