New Palestine continued its hot start to the season and earned a victory over Noblesville on Tuesday. The Dragons won 99.975-95.05.

Senior Emily Heighway won all four events and also took first in the the all-around competition with a score of 35.125. Also for the Dragons, Faith Land was third in the all-around (32.425) and Bailey Watkins fourth (31.05).

On the uneven bars, the Dragons took the top three spots, with Heighway (8.395), Grace Shanahan (8.05) and Land (8.025) finishing 1-2-3.

On vault, Heighway (8.9) and Land (8.45) were first and second. Watkins (8.4) tied for fourth, while Taylor Brown (8.2) finished in sixth.

On the balance beam, Heighway won with a 9.0. Watkins placed third (8.05) and Land fourth (8.025).

On floor exercise, Heighway won with a score of 8.85. Brown and Land tied for fourth (7.925), while Watkins was sixth (7.85).

The Dragons are now 9-1 this season and will compete again Saturday in the Rushville Invitational.

Boys Swimming

Stacey, Branson lead Dragons in loss

New Palestine’s boys swim team finished third in a three-way meet with Greenwood and Roncalli on Monday.

Greenwood finished with 123 points, while Roncalli had 109 and the Dragons 92.

Eli Branson won the 100-yard backstroke and Colin Stacey won the diving competition to lead New Palestine.

Second place finishes went to two of the Dragon relays. Tyler Corey, Chase Crowder, Michael O’Leary and Nico Martin were second in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Louis Holbrook, Martin, Corey and Sutton Biddle were second in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Aaron Lambert had an individual third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, one spot ahead of teammate Michael O’Leary. Fourth-place finishes went to Cabrera in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard butterfly. Corey was also fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, while Biddle and Crowder were fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke, respectively.

New Palestine is now 4-6-1 in dual and triangular meets. It competes again Monday against Hagerstown and Pendleton Heights in the regular season finale.
