GREENFIELD — The Upsilon chapter of Psi Iota Xi will offer its annual scholarship of $1,000 to graduating students of Eastern Hancock, Greenfield-Central or New Palestine high schools. Applicants must be planning to pursue a four-year degree in the areas of speech and hearing or art/music/literature. Applications are available in the guidance offices of these high schools.

Applicants must complete the application in its entirety, submit an essay of 300 words or fewer describing reasons for choosing a course of study in speech and hearing or art/music/literature, and attend a personal interview with members of the Upsilon chapter of Psi Iota Xi.

Psi Iota Xi, founded in 1897 in Muncie, is a women’s philanthropic organization with chapters throughout the Midwestern United States. Psi Iota Xi chapters are focused on raising money and offering volunteer service to improve the quality of life in their communities.

Upsilon Chapter members met Jan. 9 at Faith Lutheran Church in Greenfield to discuss fundraisers and other upcoming projects. Mickie Hansen and Tracie Belongia were hostesses. For a Christmas project, the organization adopted a local family in need to provide gifts, food and other necessities.

Membership in Psi Iota Xi is open to any female 18 years of age and older. For more information, contact Katie Coffin at (317) 430-4354 or [email protected].
