Doris Unverzagt, 88, of Cleburne, Tx., went to be with her Holy Father in heaven on Thursday, January 19, 2017. She was born August 21, 1928, to George Paul Rinker, II and Beulah Weddle Rinker in Brooklyn, Ind.

In the summer of 1962, Doris moved to Texas where she raised her nine children. She then began a career caring for the sick as a nurses’ aide and retired in 1981from Methodist Hospital in Houston, Tx. Doris moved to Cleburne, Texas in 1998 and volunteered at the local hospital until the age of 81. Doris enjoyed knitting, working in her garden and the simple life of being outside watching the birds.

Her greatest love of all was the study of the Bible and she often held Bible study and prayer meetings in her home.

She is survived by her children, Patti Milliorn, John “Sonny” Unverzagt, Debbie Unverzagt, Tom Unverzagt, Stewart Lawrence, Robert Unverzagt, William “Doug” Unverzagt and Greg Unverzagt; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Don Lewis Rinker and George Paul “Skip” Rinker, III; sisters, Nila Josie Brown and Mary Ann Rinker; her ex-husband, John Gilbert Unverzagt; and her daughters, Kathryn Elizabeth Unverzagt and Jeanne Ellen Dodd.

A visitation was held from 10 a.m. to Noon on Monday, January 23, at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas. There are no other services planned.
