McCORDSVILLE — A local teen was arrested this week on a charge of sexual misconduct after a child told police he’d been fondled by the teen, records show.

Samuel Gerbrant, 19, 6863 W. Dover Place, McCordsville, was arrested Monday afternoon on one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 6 felony, according to records from the Hancock County Jail.

Representatives from the Indiana Department of Child Services contacted the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department earlier this month after a child came forward to report being sexually assaulted, police reports state.

The child accused Gerbrant of touching him inappropriately while they were alone together and forcing him to engage in sex acts, according to police reports.

In an interview with police, Gerbrant admitted to harming the boy on several occasions, charging documents state. He was arrest immediately, police said.

Prosecutors Tuesday filed a single Level 6 felony count of sexual misconduct with a minor against Gerbrant, online court records show.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 2½ years in prison.

Gerbrant was being held in the Hancock County Jail at press time on a $1,000 cash bond, jail records show.
