Vera Ruth (Lignitz) Spatig, 89, of Morristown, formerly of Oaklandon, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017. She was born on February 12, 1927, in Haddam, Ks., as the daughter of John R. and Nellie I. (Idlet) Lignitz.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Bonita (Frank) Peterson of Oaklandon and Debbie (Frank) Denton of New Palestine; foster daughter, Sally Reed of Oaklandon; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Lignitz; husband, Johney Spatig; two sisters; four brothers; and one grandson.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 9, at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church, 3179 N. 600 W., Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 11:30 a.m. also at the church. Pastor Dave Galbraith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Old Oaklandon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St. #100, Indianapolis, IN 46240, or envelopes will be available at the church.
