Mt. Vernon to host Sneaker Convention
Calling all sneakerheads: Mt. Vernon High School is hosting the MV Sole Con, a sneaker convention Jan. 14.
The convention runs from noon to 6 p.m., with funds raised from the event going to support Mt. Vernon Marauders baseball.
The cost to reserve a table is $40. Admission is priced at $10.

Buckeyes expected to hire former IU coach
Former Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson is expected to become Ohio State’s new offensive coordinator, a source told Fox Sports this week.
The 55-year-old Wilson, who had spent a decade at Miami of Ohio and worked in the Big Ten at Northwestern and Indiana, led the Hoosiers to a 6-6 season this year before parting ways with the school in early December in the wake of an investigation into how the coach treated players.
Last season, Wilson led the Hoosiers to the 2015 New Era Pinstripe Bowl, the program’s first postseason appearance since 2007.

Two-time gold medalist announces retirement
Ashton Eaton announced his retirement from competitive track and field Wednesday via social media. The two-time, reigning Olympic gold medalist and world record-holder, two-time IAAF World Champion and three-time IAAF World Indoor Champion, Eaton posted a heartfelt letter to his mentors and supporters on his website.
Eaton is moving on from the sport upon which he left an indelible mark. A two-time USATF Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year, Eaton also named the 2015 IAAF World Athlete of the Year following his world record performance in Beijing at the IAAF World Championships.
Voted by teammates as a Team USA captain twice in 2016, Eaton led two USATF teams to record-breaking team performances at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland (23 medals) and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio (32 medals).
