Electoral College was founding fathers’ plan

To the editor:

There have been several complaints about Trump winning the election based on the fact (?) that Hillary won the popular vote but not the electoral vote.

I’m not sure this is a valid complaint for the following reasons: Trump won 30 states, and Hillary won 20; the states Hillary won have approximately 143.2 million residents and cover approximately 1,018.6 square miles in area; the states Trump won have approximately 181.2 million residents and cover approximately 2,778 square miles.

Therefore, I believe Trump represents the majority of people living in this country and two-thirds of the land. I am thankful for the Electoral College and do not want to see it disbanded. I think our founding fathers thought this out very carefully.
