Norman D. Meyer, 84, Indianapolis, passed away January 2, 2017. He was born October 20, 1932, in Latonia, Ky., to the late Clyde C. and Elsie Roark Meyer.

Norman graduated from Washington High School and attended Purdue University and Butler University, where he received his teaching degree. Norman married L. Sue Johnson, October 24, 1958, and she preceded him in death, October 23, 1992. He then married Judith A. Stolz Ries, June 10, 1995. Norman attended Old Bethel United Methodist Church and more recently Geist Christian Church.

He was a guidance counselor, math teacher, basketball and track coach at Belzer Middle School for eight years, Creston Jr. High School for six years and Carmel Clay Jr. High School for 16 years. He also worked as an engineer for Ford Motor Co. and served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Judith A. Meyer; daughter, Anne D. Meadors; son, Norman “Mitch” Meyer (Michele); grandchildren, Megan Meadors Roberts (Nick), Kelsey Meadors Baxter (Joshua), Daniel Meyer, Michael Meyer (Adrea), and Lorena Meyer; great-grandchildren, Ariana and Harper; brothers, C. Charles Meyer (Rachel) and Malcolm Eads; sister, Mona Zielska (David); mother-in-law, Doris Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Dr. Thomas J Stolz (Melinda) and James L. Stolz (Judy).

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 5, at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Friday at Geist Christian Church, Mud Creek Campus 8550 Mud Creek Rd., Indianapolis.
