Julia J. Strubbe

Julia J. (Fettig) (Nouwens) Strubbe, 91 of Peru and formerly of Greenfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, January 2, 2017, at Duke’s Memorial Hospital in Peru. Born on September 26, 1925, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Edger Arthur and May Anna (Guthrie) Thompson.

On December 13, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., she married Harold J. Fettig who preceded in death February 24, 1986. She was also married to Adrian Nouwens who also preceded in death.

She is survived by her current husband, Ralph Strubbe.

Julia retired from the Logansport State Hospital in 1980 after 18 years of service. She was also a caretaker for the elderly. She enjoyed life, flowers family and her beloved cats. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Surviving along with her husband, Ralph; is a son, Daniel J. (Debbie) Fettig, Peru; daughter, Jo Ellen (Michael) McFaddin, Harsen’s Island, Mich.; stepdaughter, Paula Hammond, Greenfield; stepson, Ralph Eugene (Judy) Strubbe of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Deborah Ziem, Sheri Terrell, Nick Bondar, Bradley Joseph Fettig, Kristie Jane (Nate) Nelson; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several stepgrandchildren and several great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and one twin brother, Robert Thompson.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 5, at Gundrum Funeral Home, 1603 E. Broadway, Logansport, IN. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday January 6, at the funeral home with Pastor Marie Thompson officiating and burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
