John Henry Ortel, 78, passed away December 23, 2016, in Greenfield. He was born in New Palestine, on May 25, 1938, to George and Selma (Noelting) Ortel.
John was a farmer in the Hancock County Community for his lifetime occupation. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marvin Ortel and sister, Helen Roler.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 2, at the Zion Lutheran Church, New Palestine, IN. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church, 6513 W 300 S, New Palestine, IN. Burial will be thereafter, at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
