Volunteer firefighter on his way to a call struck, killed, by train

    MCCORDSVILLE — A volunteer firefighter on his way to a call was killed early on Christmas Eve after his car was struck by a train in McCordsville, officials said.

    The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 6300 block of Broadway Street in McCordsville, where Railroad Street intersects with a set of CSX tracks, officials said.

    The driver, Richard Rehm of McCordsville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative from the Hancock County Coroner’s Office.

    No other details about the accident were released, pending a police investigation.
