GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Plan Commission this week unanimously approved a development plan to put a 17-acre solar panel energy farm on the city’s west side.

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency last month introduced a plan to purchase a plot of land off Windswept Road, north of the Sawmill subdivision, from the city of Greenfield to construct a 11,030-panel solar farm. Once constructed, the solar farm will sit behind a 7-foot tall fence. The company has offered to work with homeowners in the area to put up landscaping to block the farm from view, officials said. Construction is expected to take three to four months, officials said.
