Dragons, Cougars earn votes in IBCA poll

The New Palestine Dragons and Greenfield-Central Cougars girls basketball teams received votes in the latest Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s Top 20 rankings.

The Dragons, who defeated Mt. Vernon last night, improved to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. Greenfield-Central is 5-6 and 1-2 in the HCC.

North Central tops IBCA weekly rankings

The unbeaten North Central Panthers are No. 1 in this week’s Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s Top 20 poll. The Panthers handed No. 4 New Albany its first loss of the season at Southport last weekend.

Calder Named Interim Co-Head Coach at AU

Drew Brantley and Mark Calder will serve as interim co-head coaches for the Anderson University baseball team during the 2017 season.

Brantley is in his third season with the AU program, as a coach. A former Ravens’ player, Brantley spent one season as a student assistant under coach David Pressley and was a graduate assistant last season under Dustin Glant.

Calder, who spent the 2016 season as the Director of Baseball Operations, has 20 years of coaching experience. Along with his one season at AU, he has been an assistant coach at Mt. Vernon and Lapel high schools.

Glant, a former coach at Mt. Vernon, resigned at AU last weekend to take a position as pitching coach at Ball State University.
