The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Violations: NC/R – need to repair three-compartment sink hot water, to be corrected by Dec. 8; NC – need to provide test strips for chlorine sanitizer, to be corrected by Dec. 8; NC – all food contact surfaces need to be washed, rinsed and sanitized, to be corrected by Dec. 2; NC – handle of popcorn scoop is in popcorn, store scoop so that handle is not in popcorn, corrected; NC – need to calibrate food thermometer, to be corrected by Dec. 8.
Pizza King
Location: 215 W. Broadway St., Fortville
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations: NC – need to change storage of cutting knives, corrected; NC – clean cord for light over pizza make station, to be corrected by April 1; C – expired food in walk-in kitchen, corrected/discarded; NC – need more light in the food prep area, to be corrected by April 1.
Hampton Inn
Location: 2271 William Way, Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations: NC — provide food thermometer to check hot holding of eggs, sausage, etc., to be corrected by April 1.

Violations: C – sanitizing solution is dispensing too strong; corrected/service called.
Dollar General Store
Location: 1502 N. State St., Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations: NC — thermometers are needed in all refrigeration/freezer units, to be corrected by March 1; NC — no hot water in women’s restroom, needs to be repaired, to be corrected by March 1.
Hardee’s
Location: 1882 N. State St., Greenfield
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations: NC — need to rinse equipment, utensils, etc. after washing and before sanitizing, corrected.
