Kenneth T. Schmitt, 76 of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born on January 9, 1940, in Posey County, Ind., to the late Joseph and Geneva (Ziliak) Schmitt.
Kenneth graduated from Haubstadt High School and later attended Tri-State University in Angola. He married the love of his life Marcia (Templin) Schmitt on April 8, 1961. Kenneth worked as Sales Manager at Diamond Container Paper Co. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time outdoors. Kenneth was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield.
Surviving Kenneth is his wife of 55 years, Marcia Schmitt of New Castle; son, Ted (Kelly) Schmitt of Seattle, Wash.; daughters, Karin Schmitt of Indianapolis, Kathy (Greg) Buck of Bremen, Ind., Gretchen (George) Swapp of Seattle, Wash., brothers, Eddie Schmitt of Mt. Carmel, Ill., Tom Schmitt of Haubstadt, Ind., Fred Schmitt of Henderson, Ky.; sisters, Rose Vincent of Seaford, De.; and Mary Winiger of Evansville, Ind.
Preceding him in death are his parents listed above; and brothers, Paul and Marvin Schmitt.
Visitation for Kenneth will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140 with Fr. Aaron Jenkins officiating.
