FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon School Corp. recently opened a new health clinic on campus for its employees.

The corporation partnered with Activate Healthcare to provide an on-site clinic on the south side of the maintenance and transportation building at 1776 W. State Road 234, Fortville.

Employees who are enrolled in the district’s health insurance plans will be able to visit the clinic for a variety of health needs. Visiting the clinic will cost employees nothing. They’ll also be able to have some generic prescriptions filled for free at the clinic.

The school district already offered an employee health clinic through Hancock Regional Hospital but was able to offer an onsite clinic for a comparable price, officials said.

Last spring, the school board approved the partnership with Activate to offer the clinic. Work to renovate the building finished up recently, and administrators and school board members celebrated its opening this week.

The clinic has two state-of-the-art exam rooms, a lab room, a pharmacy, a waiting area and work space.

Superintendent Shane Robbins said the on-site clinic provides a convenient and cost-effective healthcare option for staff.
