George N. Zilligen Jr.

George N. Zilligen Jr., 96, of Westfield, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016. He was born on October 18, 1920, in Harvey, Ill. as the son of George N. and Helen R. (Reeser) Zilligen.

He graduated from Bloom High School in Harvey in 1938. Mr. Zilligen served in the Air Force during WWII. He married Muriel E. (Turner) on April 13, 1941.

George worked for Delco Electronics Company for many years before retiring in 1974. Mr. Zilligen was a former member of the Lions Club in Kokomo and Greenfield. George attended Orchard Park Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. He was involved in Habitat for Humanity and he was a volunteer driver for American Red Cross and Hancock County Senior Services. He also enjoyed being a volunteer at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield and St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo.

George is survived by his children, Cheryl L. Wagner of Noblesville, Georgann Z. (John) Lude of Fishers and William A. (Pam) Zilligen of Carmel; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel E. Zilligen; parents, George Sr. and Helen Zilligen; brothers, David Zilligen, Robert Zilligen and Thomas Zilligen; and sister, Mary Barnes.

A committal service will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, December 2, at Sunset Memory Garden, 2097 W. Alto Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902. A Celebration of Life service will also be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 1605 E. 106th St., Indianapolis, IN 46280 with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Shelly Wood will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to your local Red Cross or your favorite charity in memory of George.
