Gretta M. Clark
Gretta M. Clark, 94, of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born January 4, 1922, in Indianapolis to the late Otto and Blanche Karns.
Gretta graduated from Shortridge High School in 1940 and married Raymond Clark June 28, 1941. Her greatest joy was caring for her husband and family. She was a member of the Brightwood Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Sprouts Garden Club, served as a volunteer at Community East Hospital, and worked for Dr. John Montgomery, DDS and J.C. Penney at Eastgate for many years. She was an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and Old Bethel United Methodist Church. She and Raymond spent their retirement winters in Ft. Myers, Fla., where they were active at Chapel by the Sea.
They also loved to travel, extensively in the U.S., Scandinavia, Russia, and most memorably with the BMW Club of Indianapolis.
Gretta is survived by her three sons, R. David (Kay) of Mansfield, Ga., Gary K. (Kathy) of Greenfield, and Douglas F. (Gayle) of Austin, Tx. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Scott Clark and Andrew Clark of Greenfield, and Travis Clark (Christie) and Diana Clark of Austin, Tx.; and her great-grandson, Ryker Clark of Austin, Tx.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, December 3, at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. A memorial service to celebrate Gretta’s life will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home, Pastor Jen Gibbs officiating.
