Roxie E. Rushton, 86, of Fortville, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Hancock Regional Hospice in Greenfield. She was born April 23, 1930, in Livingston, Tenn., to the late Harvey and Laura (Thompson) Warden.

Roxie was a homemaker who loved tending to her vegetable garden and helping her husband on the farm. She was a member of the Fortville Christian Church where she was involved in the Love In Action group and she was also a member of the Fortville Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 149.

Roxie is survived by daughter, Michelle (Lee) Roberts of New Palestine; grandchildren, Danielle (Josh) Daugherty of New Palestine, Tracey (D.J.) Rickmon of Fishers, Hollie (Randy) Stokes of Plainfield and Earl (Stephanie) Frazier III of San Diego; great-grandchildren, Tyeasha, Breanna, Brynna, Christian, Elena and Ryder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank T. Rushton in 2007 and son, Frank Rushton III in 1999; siblings, Alvie, Estil and Oscar Warden, Gertie Clark, Jessie Dodson, Bonnie Hunter and Mona Rakowski.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, at the Fortville Christian Church. A memorial service to celebrate Roxie’s life will begin at 1 p.m. at the church with Rob Rigsbee officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
