Ira E. Wilson, 86, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016. He was born on May 4, 1930, as the son of Iva E. Wilson and Elsie Marie (Chumbley) Wilson in Pulaski County, Ky. He was joined in marriage to Meredith (Wilson) on June 27, 1951.
Mr. Wilson owned and operated Wilson Construction, in Greenfield, for over 30 years. He was a Footing/ Foundation expert who provided new custom home foundations. He was joined in the business by his son, Ivan in the early 1980s. He enjoyed being with his family, working, hunting, fishing, and helping raise his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Judy (Peter) Kubacki, of Michigan and Jennifer Wright, of Greenfield; brothers, Ezra Wilson, Gary Wilson, and Dennis Wilson, all of Kentucky; sister, Wilma Wilusz, of Ohio; daughter-in-law, Tammy; grandchildren, Janell, Sarah, Ivan Eric (Jordan), Travis, and Jake; and great-grandchildren, Peyton and Alexis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Meredith Wilson; son, Ivan E. Wilson; parents, Iva and Elsie Wilson; and brother, Joe Wilson.
Visitation was held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, November 21, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, November 23, at Wilson Funeral Home, in Russell Springs, Ky., with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Brother Garlin Wilson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Russell Springs, Ky.
