Restaurant Inspections – November 4

Food Safety inspections

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Oct. 12

Bamboo Garden Buffet

Location: 2160 N. State Road 9, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C – knives used for food preparation need to be clean to sight and touch, corrected; NC/R – provide trash can in employee restroom, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Oct. 17

Marsh Supermarket

Location: 1240 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC – alarm for detergent and temperature gauge at dish machine need repaired, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC – overhead doors in receiving area have openings at bottom, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC – repair seals on doors in deli freezer, ice cream freezer and seafood case, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC/R – clean deli freezer door and wipe down areas where debris has accumulated, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Oct. 18

Casey’s General Store

Location: 1133 E. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC – keep lid down on outside trash, cardboard recycling is overflowing, to be corrected by Jan. 1; NC – disposable cups need to have lips of cups protected by being in dispenser or original sleeve packaging, to be corrected by Jan. 1.

Pizza Hut

Location: 5971 U.S. Highway 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

B & C’s Hideout

Location: 7242 U.S. Highway 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – clean “fuzzies” from ceiling near fryer and over pass-thru window, also clean floors under equipment/tables in waitress area, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

Jack’s Donuts

Location: 1622 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

McDonald’s

Location: 5122 U.S. Highway 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – need to let dishes air dry after washing, do not stack wet clean equipment, to be corrected by Jan. 1.

Oct. 21

Subway

Location: 5040 U.S. Highway 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – refrigeration unit in back too warm, corrected, food removed/discarded; NC – repair tile under three-compartment sink, to be corrected by Jan. 1.
