FORTVILLE — Students from Mt. Vernon Community School Corp., including kindergartners in Latosha Gillum’s Fortville Elementary School class, took field trips to Tuttle Orchards in Greenfield recently.
The kids took a bus ride to the local farm on a crisp morning Oct. 21. During the outing, an orchard guide told students about some different types of apples, let students select four apples each to take home and let them sample some fresh apple cider.
“It tastes like a honeybee,” kindergartner Harry McBride said after taking a sip. The children also went on a hayride and participated in other fall-themed activities.
