Betty “Bette” (Colip) McClarnon, 94, of Charlottesville, passed away October 26, 2016, at County Home Health. She was born on June 30, 1922, in Hamilton County, as the daughter of Carl and Lillian (Branch) Colip.

Bette graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1940 and received her Associates Degree from Indianapolis Cosmetology School. She married Fred J. McClarnon on October 3, 1942, in Greenfield. She had worked for General Motors and Guide Lamp, but most recently she had been a receptionist for Dr. Irwin, before retiring in 1987.

Mrs. McClarnon was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and had participated in United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Tri Kappa and Elks Lodge – Ladies Auxiliary in Greenfield. Bette was a Purdue fan and enjoyed watching all kinds of sports. She also loved the time she could spend with family.

She is survived by her children, Patric (Penny) McClarnon, Kristin (Chuck) Fewell and Sam McClarnon, all of Greenfield; sisters-in-law, Jeanne McClarnon of Carmel and Eileen McClarnon of Greenfield; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lillian Colip; husband, Fred McClarnon; four brothers, Robert, Richard, Howard and Pete Colip; and two sisters, Mardelle Yunker and Kathryn Hotzel.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m. Rev. Linda Brackney will be officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson.
