Turkey Day 5K registration open

The Turkey Day 5K is set to take walkers and runners down the Pennsy Trail in Greenfield on Nov. 24.

The course starts and finishes in front of the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Building. The race presented by Greenfield Parks Department and Hancock Regional Hospital is scheduled to open at 9 a.m.

The event is a chip-timed walk/run before additionally planned holiday festivities where a prize will be awarded for the most creative costume.

The cost to participate is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the fun run with the price increasing after Oct. 31. All proceeds go toward purchasing outdoor workout equipment for the Pennsy Trail.

Wellness center to host spin class fundraiser

The Hancock Wellness Center is hosting an exercise class to benefit the more than 100 Hancock County Special Olympics athletes.

A spinning class will be conducted from 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 5 at the Hancock Wellness Center, 8505 N. Clearview Drive, McCordsville. The class costs $25 per person with all proceeds doing directly to county Special Olympians.

The Special Olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

IHSAA soccer state finals this weekend

The 23rd annual IHSAA boys and girls soccer state finals are this Saturday in Indianapolis.

Four games will be played at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on the campus of IUPUI, beginning with the Class A boys state finals.

Providence (18-2-1) and Mishawaka Marian (17-5) will face off for the title at 10:30 a.m.

The Class A girls state championship will start at 1 p.m. between Lawrenceburg (13-5-3) and Andrean (16-3-1).

The Class 2A boys state championship is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with Evansville Reitz Memorial (18-4-1) and Chesterton (16-3-2) vying for the title.

The Class 2A girls state match will cap the day at 6 p.m. between Brebeuf Jesuit (22-1-1) and Penn (21-0-1).

Tickets are $10 per person. All seats are general admission. Parking is located north of the main ticket entrance on New York Street in the Barnhill Garage. The cost to park all day is $6 by credit card only.

Colts back at home Sunday against Chiefs

The Indianapolis Colts got back into the win column on Sunday with a 34-26 win against the Tennessee Titans on the road. The Colts are returning home at Lucas Oil Stadium for Week 8 to face the Kansas City Chiefs.
