The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Oct. 10

Kroger

Location: 1571 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C — outdated deli meats found, corrected/discarded; C — outdated baby formula, corrected/discarded; NC — clean floors, walls, table legs where debris build-up is present in deli, to be corrected by Jan. 1.

Oct. 11

Dragon Palace

Location: 413 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: NC/R — ice scoop needs to be stored in clean location, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC/R — clean outsides between fillings of containers holding potentially hazardous foods, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC/R — clean pipes and floor near drain under wok table, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC/R — remove all items not necessary to the operation of the establishment, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC — do not store clean knives between the table and cooler, also shelving units holding dishes, cups, etc. need to be cleaned; C — reach-in cooler not cold enough, corrected/eggs and other items removed; NC — hand sink in women’s restroom not draining properly, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC — non-food contact surfaces of equipment need to be clean to sign and touch (walk-in cooler, outsides of equipment such as blender base, etc.), to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Location: 826 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Oct. 13

Huck’s Convenience Food & Fuel

Location: 322 E. Broadway, Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C/R — roller foods not hot enough, corrected/discarded; C/R — expired lunch meats, corrected/discarded; C — Huck’s sandwiches not date-marked, corrected; NC — ice scoops used to fill bags of ice need to be protected and stored in a clean location, to be corrected by Dec. 1.

Strough’s Supermarket

Location: 624 N. Madison St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations: C/R — chicken wings, pot pie and mashed potatoes not hot enough, to be corrected by Oct. 14; NC — need to have three-compartment sink in deli, to be corrected by Dec. 1; NC — need to have thermometer in refrigerator in deli, to be corrected by Dec. 1.
