Florida man faces child molest charge

GREENFIELD — A Florida man faces a child molest charge locally after a girl came forward to report she’d been harmed by him while he was living in Hancock County.

John Bodine, 32, 6991 Brairwood Ave., Pinellas Park, Florida, faces a Class C felony count of child molesting, which carries a potential penalty of two to eight years behind bars.

The girl’s allegations against Bodine date back to 2011, according to court records. Bodine sometimes helped care for the victim while he was living in Greenfield, she told police.

Bodine would lure her into a computer room in his home under the pretense of watching funny videos online, according to court documents. When they were alone together, the man would touch her inappropriately, she told investigators.

Bodine appeared in court Monday and pleaded not guilty to the criminal charge he faces. He was being held in the Hancock County Jail at press time Tuesday on $50,000 cash bond, records show.
