Nicholas James Smoot, 22, of Greenfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 22, 2016. He was born on August 12, 1994, in Indianapolis as the son of James D. and Denise J. (Parrish) Smoot.
Nick graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 2013. He was a senior at Indiana University where he was working toward a degree in Sports Marketing. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and loved I.U. football and basketball. He enjoyed playing football, golf and spending time with his family and friends. Nick touched many lives. His infectious laugh and outgoing personality will be missed by all.
Nick is survived by his parents, James and Denise Smoot of Greenfield; siblings, Luke C. Smoot and Molly A. (Travis L. Warren) Smoot, both of Greenfield; beautiful and loving girlfriend, Peri K. Paul; and grandparents, Robert and Nancy Smoot of Greenfield.
Nick was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harry Parrish; grandmother, Joan Koers-Parrish; cousin, Andrew Turpin; and aunt, Lila Smoot-Young.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, at Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E. McKenzie Rd., Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, also at the church. David Woods will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
