New Palestine football tickets available

Pre-sale tickets are available inside the New Palestine High School athletics office for the Dragons’ sectional opener Friday.

Tickets are $6 per person and available for purchase during regular school hours between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. 

The Class 5A No. 2 Dragons (9-0) host rival No. 5 Columbus East (8-1) for the first-round of Sectional 14 at Kelso Stadium. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.

Individual tennis state finals this weekend

The IHSAA boys individual tennis state finals begins Friday at Park Tudor.

The quarterfinals will start at 2 p.m. Friday. Semifinal and championship matches will be conducted at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Pacers waive Poythress, Zeisloft

The Indiana Pacers announced they have waived 6-foot-7 forward Alex Poythress and 6-5 guard Nick Zeisloft. Poythress played in two preseason games and scored one point. Zeisloft played in one game.

Dragons football sets HHC title record

The New Palestine football team won its record-setting 27th consecutive Hoosier Heritage Conference game Friday night to capture the outright league title.

The HHC championship was New Palestine’s fourth straight and eighth overall, which now ranks them first in total titles won.

The Dragons were tied with Delta for most HHC championships with seven apiece entering this season.
