Greenfield-Central, New Palestine marching bands advance to semistate

GREENWOOD — The Greenfield-Central Cougar Pride Marching Band and New Palestine High School Marching Dragons ranked over the weekend during their regional competitions and advanced to the semistate Saturday.

Greenfield-Central performed its show, “Outside the Bachs,” Saturday afternoon in in the Indiana State School Music Association Open Regional Marching Band competition at Center Grove High School in Greenwood.

Out of 14 bands in the Class B regional, Greenfield-Central ranked in the top 10 and therefore qualifies to move on to the Class B semistate competition Saturday at Pike High School, 5401 W. 71st St., Indianapolis.

New Palestine performed its show, “From the Ashes” Saturday and also placed in the top 10, advancing to semistate Saturday.

New Palestine High School takes the floor first at 1 p.m. Saturday. Greenfield-Central is slated to perform third Saturday around 1:26 p.m.

State finals for bands that qualify to move on are slated for Oct. 29 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
