Royals hire new girls hoops coach
The Eastern Hancock School board approved the hiring of Andy Meneely as the new Royals girls varsity basketball coach Monday.
Meneely is replacing Shari Doud as head coach and brings more than 10 years of collegiate experience to the position. A 2000 Taylor University graduate in mass communications, Meneely earned his postgraduate degree at the University of Texas Permian Basin.
Meneely served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Lincoln Christian College from 2003-04 and at Pensacola State College from 2007-10. He was an assistant women’s basketball coach at The College of Wooster (2004-06) and Taylor University (2012-13).
Meneely will be introduced to players and parents today inside the Eastern Hancock High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m.

IHSAA volleyball tourney pairings drawn
The IHSAA conducted its sectional pairings for the 45th annual volleyball state tournament on Monday.
Class 2A Eastern Hancock will open Sectional 42 at Heritage Christian on Oct. 20 against Irvington Prep Academy. The match is schedule for 7:30 p.m.
In Class 3A, seventh-ranked New Palestine drew Herron in the first-round of the Sectional 27 tournament Oct. 20 at Indianapolis Crispus Attucks. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
The Class 4A Greenfield-Central Sectional opens Oct. 20. Both the host Cougars and No. 11 Mt. Vernon Marauders drew first-round byes and will play each other in the semifinals at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 22.
