GREENFIELD — The Common Threads Quilt Guild raised more than $1,000 for the “Women Helping Women” organization through a quilt raffle.

At their Sept. 21 meeting, Common Threads Quilt Guild President Martha Rochelle Higdon presented Andrea Mallory, representing “Women Helping Women,” with a check for $1,012 from the Quilt Show Donation Quilt.

The “Women Helping Women” program benefits women who have little or no health insurance, or who otherwise couldn’t afford a mammogram screening. This was the largest amount ever collected for a charity in the quilt guild’s history, according to a news release.
